Images captured during Hema in Armis tournaments—a modern sport rooted in historical fencing and inspired by medieval trials by combat.
It’s a physically demanding discipline, built on technique, ideals, and a distant imaginary that many refuse to let go of. A form of combat where you aim for an opponent’s weak points, even though—beneath all that steel—they remain a person with a story of their own.
These photographs, together with my passion for both history and the sport itself, laid the groundwork for a broader project I’m currently developing: a contemporary look at historical fencing in the 21st century.
